Air Canada has lost their oldest Airbus a320-200 today as it flies to Marana (MZJ/KMZJ) from Montreal (YUL/CYUL) to retire operating flight AC2335. Air Canada has 4 Airbus a320-200's remaining in a large fleet of 391 aircraft. However, C-FDQQ is the oldest. It has been a part of Air Canada's fleet since 1990, making it just over 30 years old.

The aircraft flew its first flight on the 27th of October 1989. When C-FDQQ first arrived in Canada, it was in Cyprus Airways livery (ex VH-HYI). The aircraft arrived on the 19th of January 1990. It took 4 days before it took flight as it had to undergo mandatory cold weather testing at NWT Air Yellowknife base

The aircraft has had a few mechanical problems in its past. On the 26th of September the aircraft experienced a hydraulic leak. Just over four months after that, C-FDQQ's gear door indicated unsafe on the 8th of March 2013. Three and a half years later, on the 8th of October 2016, the aircraft experienced a loss of cabin pressure. However, its last mechanical issue that was recorded was on the 11th of August 2017 when it experienced a hydraulic failure.

C-FDQQ's last flight was on the 31st of March 2020. It operated flight AC426 from Toronto Pearson International's (YYZ/CYYZ) to Montreal Pierre Elliot Trudeau Airport (YUL/CYUL). The retirement of such an old, beautiful aircraft is truly the end of a wonderful era.
