Air India transport Food and Medical Supplies to the North of India

Air India Airbus A320neo flew from Delhi International Airport to Agartala via Kolkata on the 18th of April 2020. The airline operated under Lifeline Udan and transported 2288kg of essential food and medical supplies to the North of the country. Agartala is a city in the North of India. It is the capital city of the Indian state of Tripura. It is the second-largest city in northeast India.


The aircraft registered VT-EXV operated flight AI1401 from Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL/VIDP) to Kolkata International Airport (CCU/VECC). This flight took 1 hour four minutes before heading to Agartala Airport (IXA/VEAT). The flight number was AI1701 and it only took 41 minutes. The aircraft headed directly back to Delhi just over an hour later, lasting two hours twenty five minutes.


Air India have a large fleet of 127 aircraft. They are well known here in Europe for operating their Boeing 777's and Boeing 787's to their long haul destinations. They recently have included the Airbus A320neo to their fleet. They now own 27 of them with an average age of 2.2 years. Air India was the ninth airline to operate this aircraft. Their first A320neo was registered VT-EXF and leased the first 14 of their aircraft from Aviation Lease and Finance Company (ALAFCO).
