Airbus sends their test Airbus a350-1000 aircraft to China

British Airways Airbus a350-1000 testing in Shannon Airport, Ireland

Yesterday, Airbus’ test Airbus a350-1000 took flight from Toulouse to Tianjin, China to collect medical supplies due to the Covid-19 outbreak. The aircraft left Toulouse-Blagnac Airport (TLS/LFBO) yesterday operating flight AIB101. The flight took in total 9 hours, 41 minutes. Toulouse is home to manufacturer Airbus aswell as ATR. Today, it is heading to Hamburg Finkenwerder Airport (XFW/EDHI) on flight AIB102. It is expecting to arrive at 17:32 in Germany later this evening. Hamburg Finkenwerder Airport is home to an Airbus plant where the Airport is exclusively used to corporate, freight, test aircraft and for delivery flights.

F-WMIL, Airbus’ test A350-K is just over three years old and is in Airbus House livery. It has a pair of two Rolls-Royce XWB-97s. The aircraft is mostly used for for test flights, engine run and taxi checks along with high altitude engine testing.

It is very common in our current environment to see airlines sending over their aircraft to collect medical supplies from China. For example, Aer Lingus are operating their Airbus a330’s multiple times a week to Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK/ZBAA) from Dublin (DUB/EIDW). Austrian Airlines are also doing something similar, operating their Boeing 777-200 and Boeing 767 to Penang International Airport (PEN/WMKP) from Vienna (VIE/LOWW). Multiple other airlines are doing the same thing, flying to different airports around China, frequently throughout the week due to this global pandemic. However, it extraordinary to see Airbus took their Airbus a350-1000 test aircraft to the skies for the same cause.
