Airbus recently announced that they are reducing production rates by a third, leaving many airlines with cancelled orders. Airbus revealed that they have had 15 cancellations of their Airbus A350s but that there is still an order for 10 of them. 6 Airbus A350-1000s and 4 Airbus A350-900s were part of these cancellations. However, the ten that are still on order are from an undisclosed customer. 5 Airbus a350-900s order by Kuwait Airways have also been removed from Airbus’ backlog. These aircraft were already due for cancellations once the airline signed for Airbus A330neos.
The company have revealed that they are cutting their productions by a third leaving reductions in Airbus A320 and Airbus A330 productions. They have cut their productions of the A320 from 60 to 40 and their A330s from 6 to 2 per month.
Four Airbus A330-900s have been cut for lessors Avolon according to Airbus’ latest backlog revision. However, they recently revealed that they were acing four aircraft to deal with the Covid-19 outbreak.
Airbus secured a deal with the lessors AerCap for 50 Airbus A320neo-family aircraft according to the Airframes figure from the past three months. The agreement states that it will cover twenty five Airbus A321neos and Airbus A320neos.
There has been 66 cancellations of the 365 orders received in the first quarter of 2020. Chief executive Guillaume Faury said that the airframer hasn’t directly experienced cancellations due to the Covid-19 situation as he discloses cuts in its production rates. He also added that the orders would not be ‘the name of the game’ for the upcoming months.
