Emirates have recently announced that they will begin operating flights to nine destinations next week which includes flights between Australia and London. This has happened days after their rivals Etihad revealed that they too were going to fly between Australia and London.
Before the pandemic, Emirates operated flights that connected Oceania, Asia and Europe. However, they have been forced to suspend these operations due to government restrictions. Qantas and British Airways also cut their connections between the two countries. Qatar Airways was the only airline operating flights between the nations.
However, with the emergence of Emirates' new routes, they are beginning to open up the world again. This includes from London to Australia. Recently, they have only been flying to London Heathrow and Frankfurt. Now, with numerous new flights, it allows Dubai to open up to their citizens and residents with approval to return home.
There will now be three new ways to fly from the UK to Australia. You can either fly via Doha, Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Etihad will be operating their flights from London to Melbourne via Abu Dhabi. Their passengers will be remaining on the aircraft while in the UAE. Emirates, however, have not disclosed any information on how they will operate their flights between the two countries as of now.
The other nine destinations in which Emirates will be flying to will begin on the 21st of May. These are: London Heathrow, Madrid, Sydney, Melbourne, Paris, Frankfurt, Milan, Chicago and Toronto. Next week the airline will also be going to South Korea, Guinea and Senegal to operate repatriation flights. On the 15th of May, they will be going to Narita International Airport and on the 16th, they will operate flights to Conakry and Blaise Diagne International airports.
In early April, the airline began modifying their inflict service programme due to the pandemic. They banned the availability of all printed products. The presentation of the food and beverages is modified to reduce contact during meal service. The Emirates Lounge and Chauffeur Drive have also become unavailable. After each flight, the aircraft is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.
The passengers will now no longer be allowed to take their usual cabin baggage allowance onboard their flights. They can only bring essentials onboard such as laptops and baby items. Emirates also started testing passengers on selected flights for the Coronavirus. Although, it is unclear if those travelling on these new flights will be among those who will be tested.
